This is one of the first modifications we made to our F7.  We race, so we like easy access to the clutches without any interference from the cover.  We were unhappy with the way that the clutch guard just "swings" out of the way.  Here's what we did:
F7 Clutch Guard Pin
This page was last updated on: August 4, 2010
Approx. Time:  30 Mins

*Hardware and Tools Needed:
1 - 1/2" Wrench
1 - 7/64" Drill Bit
1 - Electric or Cordless Drill
1 - 9" length of  .065" Diameter Cable
1 - .090" Diameter Hitch Pin
2 - Electrical "Eye" Connector
1 - Electrical Connector Pliers (Vise-Grips also works)
1 - Measuring Tape or Ruler

Step 1:
Take off clutch cover guard by removing burr and hardware (keep track of all hardware) with 1/2" wrench.

Step 2:
Take out bolt, and screw burr on all the way (Will give reason why in Step 3).

Step 3:
Drill small hole 1/8" from end through bolt using  7/64" drill bit.  Unscrew burr (this will help remove any edges that were created from drilling the hole).

Step 4:
Set bolt and burr aside.

Step 5:
Take cable and crimp one electrical eye onto one end.

Step 6:
Break off eye of second electrical connector (Call this Connector "B").

Step 7:
Put cable through Connector "B" and double over (Creating a loop), putting end back into connector and crimp (Should have an eye on one end and a loop on the other).  Put hitch pin key through loop.

Step 8:
Take bolt and put back into hole in sled.  Put on washer, eye connector end of cable, and tighten burr down to it. (Should look like picture at bottom of page)

Step 9:
Put clutch cover back onto bolt, and put key through hole.

Step 10:
Close cover and Go Riding!
